About the GST Calculator
This calculator works out Goods and Services Tax on a price. Starting from an amount before GST, it adds the tax to show the GST charged and the GST-inclusive total. GST is used in countries such as Australia (10 percent), New Zealand (15 percent), India, Canada and Singapore, and this tool lets you set whatever rate applies to you.
How to use it
- Enter the price before GST, the net amount.
- Enter the GST rate as a percent, for example
10in Australia. - Read the GST amount and the total including GST.
A practical note: this tool adds GST to a net figure. If you instead have a GST-inclusive price and want to extract the tax already inside it, divide the total by 1 plus the rate (for 10 percent, divide by 1.1) to recover the net amount. Rates and registration thresholds differ by country, so check your local rules. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add GST to a price?
Multiply the net price by the GST rate divided by 100 to get the GST, then add it back. At 10 percent, a net price of 200 gains 20 GST for a total of 220.
How do I find the GST already included in a price?
Divide the GST-inclusive total by 1 plus the rate as a decimal. For a 10 percent rate, divide by 1.1; the GST portion of a 110 inclusive price is 10.
What GST rate should I use?
It depends on your country. Common rates are 10 percent in Australia, 15 percent in New Zealand and varying slabs in India. Enter the rate that applies to your transaction.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The GST calculation happens locally in your browser, so the price and rate you enter are never uploaded or stored.
