Sentence Case
Capitalise the first letter of every sentence and lowercase the rest, just like normal writing.
About the Sentence Case tool
Sentence case is ordinary prose capitalisation: the first letter of each sentence is a capital and everything else is lowercase. This tool fixes text that was typed in ALL CAPS, in random casing, or with inconsistent capitals, and rewrites it the way you would normally write a paragraph. It detects sentence endings at periods, question marks, and exclamation marks, then capitalises the next letter.
How to use it
- Paste the text you want to fix into the input.
- The corrected sentence-case version appears in the output.
- Copy it back into your document or message.
A limitation to keep in mind: the tool cannot know about proper nouns, so names like London or Monday and the pronoun I may be lowercased because they sit mid-sentence. After converting, scan the text and re-capitalise any names by hand. It also relies on standard punctuation to find sentence boundaries, so text without periods is treated as one sentence. All processing happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Does sentence case keep proper nouns capitalised?
No. The tool capitalises the first letter of each sentence but cannot recognise names, places, or the pronoun I, so you should re-capitalise those by hand after converting.
How does the tool decide where a sentence ends?
It looks for sentence-ending punctuation - periods, question marks, and exclamation marks - and capitalises the first letter that follows.
Can I use this to fix text typed in all caps?
Yes. It lowercases the text and then capitalises the start of each sentence, which is a fast way to repair accidental Caps Lock typing.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the text you paste never leaves your device.
