Words to Number
Type a number written out in words, such as two thousand twenty four, and get the digits back.
About the Words to Number tool
This tool does the reverse of spelling out a figure: it reads a number written in English words and gives you the digits. Type one hundred five and it returns 105; type two thousand twenty four and you get 2024. It understands the building blocks of written numbers - the ones, the tens, and the scale words like hundred, thousand, and million - and combines them into the correct value.
How to use it
- Type the number as words, for example three thousand two hundred.
- The digits appear in the output.
- Copy the figure into your spreadsheet, form, or calculation.
It is forgiving about the linking word and, so both one hundred and five and one hundred five work. For best results, spell the words correctly and in their normal order; misspellings or unusual phrasing may not be recognised. This is handy for converting amounts written on documents back into numbers you can compute with. The parsing runs in your browser, so your input is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Can I include the word and, as in one hundred and five?
Yes. The tool ignores the connecting and, so both one hundred and five and one hundred five convert to 105.
What scale words does it understand?
It recognises the standard groupings such as hundred, thousand, and million, combining them with the ones and tens to build the full number.
What if a word is misspelled?
Recognition relies on correctly spelled English number words in their usual order. A misspelling or unusual phrasing may not be parsed, so double-check the spelling if the result looks wrong.
Is my input kept private?
Yes. The conversion happens in your browser, so the words you type are never sent to a server.
